VILLA D’ESTE 2023

In what feels already like a timeless tradition, the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este graced again the shores of Cernobbio, where Lake Como’s beauty served as an exquisite backdrop. The 14th incarnation of the event was masterfully orchestrated under the discerning direction of the BMW Group, solidifying their established stature as the event’s official custodians.
Two remarkable days unfurled, for a myriad of reasons. First and foremost, the competition reclaimed its two-day glory, akin to the pre-pandemic era, rescinding the downsized format forced by the Covid-19 pandemic, which had seen the event modestly reconfigured between 2020 and 2022 and basically held without the participation of the public.
Villa d’Este retained its charm even in the midst of rain’s gentle caress. Yes, this year’s event was graced by inclement weather, a ceasless downpour, yet the spectacle endured! Beyond the resplendent automobiles at the Concorso, there were captivating interludes – a live band regaled and ensnared the entire audience, serenading them with choreographed Latin American shows, performed by dancers adorned in fiery crimson costumes.
Regrettably, the storied Biscione yielded the spotlight this year to a profusion of Porsches and racing cars, a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, alongside a splendid array of pre-war automobiles from India, prefaced by an entrancing Indian dance performance inaugurating the parade at Villa Erba.
